Cha-Cha-Changesssss.
Over the past few years we have gone through so many changes as a family. In typical fashion, we tend to live in same-ness for a long time and then when something presents itself we just KNOW if its the right thing and we pull the trigger fast. Thus, checking out a few houses turned into making a contingent offer, going under contract, completely finishing our lagging house to-do list and getting our home on the market, 30 showings, 2 offers and missing out on that amazing house all in about oh…10 days.
Yep, that’s right. We started checking out a few houses when one close by, with enough bedrooms and bathrooms, that fit the price range we wanted to stay in. It was a no. We went and saw a handful of other homes, including one I was sure I would LOVE. Nothing was worth moving for…until we walked into one home. Our kids would stay at the same schools, great location for our family, and checked all the boxes. We loved it! We were sitting in my lenders office in 48 hours, preapproved and writing a contract.
Our offer was contingent on the sale of our home. When we had an offer within just 2 days of being on the market, it looked like the stars were going to align. Unfortunately that offer ended up backing out…the day after the listing agent called to tell me…they had another offer coming in that was not contingent. The next few days sucked. We showed our house 30 times and we were so hopeful that another offer would come in, right in the nick of time.
It didn’t. We lost the house. Now our cute little ranch that we loved was ready, for sale, and getting tons of interest and we had no next plan of what or where we would live next once it sold. What happens when things DON’T work out? Usually something better.
Just 2 days after we lost the house of our dreams…we got a great offer on ours and we were under contract. Except now, we had about a week to find somewhere to live. And the house search saga was just getting started.
Until next time,
